They return that satisfaction and happiness through dedication to their job responsibilities and have higher production rates. “Because they enjoy what they do on a daily basis, those with high career well-being get more done.”

In contrast, disengaged employees have low career well-being. “People in disengaged workgroups are nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression, have higher stress levels and are at greater risk for heart disease.” This absenteeism decreases productivity levels and increases the amount of money spent on health-related costs.
